(SISS) Hi Miss Twiggy, where are you from and where are you currently spending your time? (Miss Twiggy) I am originally from Regina, Saskatchewan Canada. I am now based in British Columbia Canada, but working towards purchasing a small property in the Caribbean. :) (SISS) What was one of the hardest things that you had to go through? What advice would you give someone going through the same struggle? (Miss Twiggy) I wouldn’t name any particular incident, rather the struggle of self-acceptance, which seemed to be lifelong. I feel that experiences, mistakes, becoming self-aware and wisdom of age, all creates a strength needed to overcome a lot of negative habits. Every time we survive something which we think we can’t, we gain confidence and self-respect and self trust. Suddenly, I was a mature woman in my 40’s and I was falling in love with who I was and who I had the potential to become. It made me brave enough to try anything, even though I know, I might fail. Now, I understand I can learn from the failure, find joy in the attempt and grow from the experience. Just allowing yourself to be imperfect is an incredible freedom. I wish I’d known this when I was younger! (SISS Tell us who is Miss Twiggy and what are you most proud of? (Miss Twiggy) I am a resilient, smart generous woman who is a fierce supporter of other women. I am most proud of my children. They are the kindest most open-minded people I will probably ever have the privilege to know. They teach me how to be a better person everyday. (SISS) One year from now what do you hope to have accomplished (business or personal)? (Miss Twiggy) One year from now … I see myself living near the ocean, practicing yoga on the beach in the mornings. I aspire to be a full time model/muse and continue to create new, inspiring and edgy photos with photographers all over the world. But, most importantly, whatever lies ahead, I want to be living life fearlessly, with curiosity and traveling a lot. (SISS) How dedicated are you to fitness? What is your fitness goal? On your body, what is your favorite body part and what is your least favorite? (Miss Twiggy) Fitness & nutrition has always been central in my life. I’ve always been an athlete and played many sports throughout my life. At this time, I dedicate 5 or 6 days to actual training (weights, cardio, yoga). My off days, I like to go for a walk/hike or end up doing some yoga. Fitness elevates me. My favorite part of my body is my back. I think backs are sexy in general. My least favorite part would be my hands … lol. I just can’t grow nails to save my life and I always felt I had “athlete” hands, not feminine at all. But, that’s if you want to break down the body and focus on parts. I look at my body all put together and I have no complaints. Bodies are beautiful … all of them. I love seeing nudes of women in all shapes and sizes because we are such beautiful creatures. (SISS) What makes you the happiest? What is fun for you? (Miss Twiggy) Seeing my children laughing. Yes. This is the best thing ever. (SISS) How do you deal with disappointment? How do you Keep Going? (Miss Twiggy) I’ve become sort of analytical about disappointment. I used to try and ignore it. Bounce off of it and try and be super positive. Now, I sit with it for a bit. Feel how it feels, until I figure out WHY exactly I’m feeling these things. What is this trying to teach me? Where is this trying to lead me? Usually, I realize it’s not the actual event or failure that’s the disappointment. There’s always a bigger picture and a simpler answer. The answer is always there - the “disappointment” is usually a sign that I’ve wandered off path. I’m not listening to that voice that wants to guide me to the joyful, successful side of life. Once I’m back on path, the disappointment fades but the lesson sticks! (SISS) What is your superpower? (Miss Twiggy) I am a ridiculously powerful empath. I can walk into a room and know what every person is feeling. Sometimes, it’s exhausting. It might sound insane, but I often know things about people before they know it themselves. Especially, when I am living a long way from them. I once lived cross country from my sister and called her one morning, just out of the clear blue. I told her to take whatever job offer is coming her way. She laughed and told me to “f-off”! She’d just walked out of a job interview for a promotion. ha-ha! I do that a lot! (SISS) What is your weakness and what do you do to overcome it? (Miss Twiggy) My weakness is still self-doubt. It hits me in waves. But, I’ve learned to recognize it for what it is. Through the years I’ve really tried so hard to change that inner loop of negative statements in my head. You know the one, “who do you think you are?” “you’re not good enough” “you’re not smart enough” “you’re not pretty enough” - the one that all women have on repeat. I’ve consciously replaced those thoughts with “why not you?” “of course I’m different, different is amazing!” “they don’t have to like me, it doesn’t mean I’m not likable” “of course you can!!!” “you got this! you f’n rock!”. Because, this is what I would say to another woman - so I started to talk to myself like I was my best friend. It’s a game changer! (SISS) Can you tell us four things people don’t know about you? (Miss Twiggy) (1) I spent 20 years training & racing competitive sled dogs. Dedicated 24/7/365 to dogs, dogs, dogs. Rescued many and cared and loved them like they were all my kids. I can read dogs better than people ..lol (2) I used to teach aerobics in the late 80’s .. I still have the Jane Fonda workout memorized and still include parts of it into my workouts! (3) I took broadcasting - but, dropped out of News and focused on Commercial Writing/Producing….. I was terrified of being on camera! (4) I suffer horrible migraines with barometric weather changes – summer storms can knock me on my a$$ ! I know a storm is coming hours before the clouds start showing up. (SISS) Can you tell us where else can our readers follow your daily inspiration? (Miss Twiggy) At this time I am on IG @misstwiggyfit I have a few projects coming and the links will be found there soon! (SISS) What’s your favorite quote? (Miss Twiggy) “What is this breath thing all about? You will know, the moment it starts to leave you.” Prem Rawat – Majaraji (SISS) At Smart is so sexy we love to see women who are thriving in their career or business. What are you most passionate about? (Miss Twiggy) At this time, collaborating on photography projects as a muse/model and fitness are my true passions! As well as travel … I’m in love with Cuba at this time! My business which I’ve owned and operated for more than 15 years is www.canadog.ca inspired by my life with sled dogs and all dogs! All products are my own design! (SISS) Who was the most influential person in your life and why? (Miss Twiggy) My parents. At this age, I recognize their strength individually and as a committed couple. I see how they contributed in so many ways not just to their family and friends, but also as valuable members of their community. My parents are those people who leave others feeling better about themselves every time they interact. They elevate and encourage. My children say they recognize this trait in me! It’s a testament that parents lead by example for their kids, because I turn around and see it in my son & daughters, too! (SISS) Where were you five years ago? What advice would you tell your five years younger self? (Miss Twiggy) Five years ago I was asking hard questions about my life, marriage and what I needed to be happy and healthy. I didn’t know if I had the strength or courage to listen to the answers. If I could go back and give myself advice - I would say, “Do it now! Don’t wait! Stop trying to make everybody else happy and sacrificing your sanity and these precious years of your life. Everyone will find their way. Do these things that scare you. I PROMISE YOU, the rewards will be greater than you could ever imagine. And, EVERYONE will be better because you were brave enough to listen to your heart!” (SISS) Can you take us through a typical day? From Waking up to going to bed, Can you give us a play by play of a typical day for you? (Miss Twiggy) Well, until a few months ago it was work, work, work. But, I did another brave thing, and closed down part of my business to create some balance in my life. These days it looks like this: Wake up, make coffee for myself and my daughters. Make them breakfast or a small lunch and see them drive off for school (twins, they are seniors high school). Enjoy a coffee and breakfast while I manage my social media - business and personal. Check in on my son - he’s a musician in Vancouver @macramsaymusic I do about 3 hours of focused work on my business CanaDog Supply. On the weekends, I run errands, get groceries and do some meal prep for the week. We’ve had a terrible winter .. so the days that have permitted … take a long walk with my dog, Lucy, and leave my phone at home. This is where I disconnect and completely reboot. By this time, it’s 5 ish. If my daughters are home we’ll eat. I start to ramp up for a workout. I usually workout anywhere between 7 or 8 pm for a couple hours. I had long days of work up until I made changes, so I had myself on an evening workout schedule. I workout at home. I have a small gym in my basement. After workout, I have a protein shake & usually check social media again or visit with my daughters if they emerge from their bedrooms .. lol. I have a horrible habit of being on my phone in bed and watching TV at the same time! I’ve started to put my phone on DND now, and watch TV until I’m sleepy. I’ve been sleeping much better! That’s about it. Pretty boring. I’m not a social person so it’s a good life. I try to take a vacation every 4 months or so - and I fill up on social, then come back to my very quiet, introverted existence. (SISS) What is your favorite meal? What is your favorite book and/or the latest one you’ve read? What is your favorite song? (Miss Twiggy) My favorite meal is a tough one to answer. I love curry! I love Tom-Yum noodle soup! I love sushi! I always choose vegetarian/vegan choices when available. But, I wouldn’t turn down a great bar-b-que steak with super garlic Caesar salad, if you were making it! A favorite book would be Malcolm Gladwell “Outliers” - Ideas in this book were life changing. Especially the “10,000 hour rule”. A favorite song is also a tough one. At this point, it’s one of my son’s original tunes “Drink Away”, Mac Ramsay. Of all time, gosh, I’m such a music lover I can’t really pick one. I can’t seem to get over “Club Can’t Handle Me”, Flo Rida, ha-ha! ACDC “Shook Me All Night Long” never fails to make me feel young & badass! (SISS) When do you feel the sexiest? (Miss Twiggy) After I’ve had a day in the sun beside the ocean and I’m dressing for the evening - I ooze sexuality, sensuality and confidence. Those unexpected moments, when I catch a glimpse of my body in the mirror and I have to back up and take a second look! Sometimes, I just really like what I see! But, the important message I’d like to convey is that it’s never based on someone’s opinion of me. It’s internal. It comes from within me. I decide I’m sexy! (SISS) Is there someone on social media that inspires you and is a great follow? (Miss Twiggy) So many! The IG community has been an absolutely surprising and inspiring revelation. I have found so many like minded people. Women! Who are supportive and have my back. I say, find like minded individuals and follow them. Don’t look for famous people. Follow real people. Sometimes the best are people with under 500 followers. (SISS) What does Smart is so Sexy mean to you? (Miss Twiggy) Smart is so sexy means you’re bringing it all to the table. You’re not dimming yourself down to become what everyone’s opinion of sexy should be. You’re being yourself, which includes your brilliant thoughts and ideas. Sexy is a state of mind. Sexy originates with a thought. Thoughts ignite that “feeling yourself” moment where you stand differently, walk differently and put out a different vibe. Smart sexy is authentic. You can’t turn someone on physically without turning on their mind first. Smart is so sexy because everybody and every body can turn it on just by thinking it. It’s both powerful and empowering AF! (SISS) Thank you so much Miss Twiggy!
