(SISS) Hi Reese, where are you from and where are you currently spending your time? (Reese) I am originally from Chicago but now I reside in Orlando. I moved here after getting out of the Marine Corps in 2010. It’s been my home ever since. (SISS) What was one of the hardest things that you had to go through? What advice would you give someone going through the same struggle? (Reese) One of the most difficult times in my life was after a divorce and transitioning from the military into civilian life. I had become a single parent, and decided that I was not going to let my divorce stop me from making something of myself and providing for my daughter. It took a lot of hard work and dedication, but I completed my Masters degree and bought a house. My advice for anyone going through a difficult time is to figure out what makes you happy and find your identity. For me, bodybuilding was something that helped me focus and helped me get through some really difficult times in my life. (SISS) Marine Corps Veteran | UCF Masters Degree | YouTube | Fitness | Traveler | Environmentalist #SISS Tell us more… who is @fit_reese and what are you most proud of? (Reese) Who am I... I feel like I could write a book on that subject. Well first and foremost, I’m a mom of a beautiful 11 year old amazing girl. She is my motivation and my drive for everything I do. I owe everything to her, she is what made me want to make something of myself. She is what I’m most proud of and my biggest accomplishment in life. I am a Marine. Once a Marine always a Marine. I served in the Marines from 2006-2010 as an Ammunition Technician. I now work with veterans as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I hope that I’m able to give back at least a little for those that have served before me and after me. I love to travel, my daughter and I have been all over the world and we are still going! She is my travel buddy. Last but not least, I’m an athlete. I love anything that challenges me. As someone with lupus, it can be difficult getting motivation to workout sometimes, but it is the one thing that never lets me down. (SISS) Finish this sentence, I have a dream… ? (Reese) I will, one day fall in love. (SISS) What makes you the happiest? What is fun for you? (Reese) I am the happiest when I’m traveling. Something about seeing new places, learning about new cultures that makes me feel Alive! (SISS) How do you deal with disappointment? How do you Keep Going? (Reese) I often find myself in the gym during stressful times, or talking to my girlfriends. They keep me sane. But most of ALL, time. Time really does heal all. (SISS) What is your superpower? (Reese) My superpower is that I am an empath. It’s also my biggest curse. I’m able to pick up on feelings and read body language more than the normal person. I often times, sense red flags early. Again, it’s a gift and a curse. It can be draining. (SISS) Finish the sentence, my life has gotten so much better since… ? (Reese) My daughter was born. (SISS) Can you tell us four things people might not know about you? (Reese) (1) I’m quite sensitive (2) I’m Brazilian, Palestinian, French and German (3) I sing sometimes (4) I have lupus (SISS) Can you tell us where else can our readers follow your daily inspiration? (Reese) Instagram is my only current social media platform, although If you want to follow my family travel page on Instagram it is @twogetawaygirls (SISS) Got a Story to Tell? Can you tell us a quick story or moment/night of a relationship experience, a lesson learned? (This could be funny or serious). (Reese) Oh I have many lol. But let’s just go for the most recent. I’ve been single for quite sometime, mainly because I know what I want and won’t settle for anything less and also my area where I live, is not the greatest for the dating scene lol. A friend of mine matched me with someone she knew. We got to know each other prior to meeting as he lived in another state. Feelings got involved and somehow I ended up flying to see him. Connection was even stronger. However, when I started asking the harder questions or. “Where is this leading” etc, he bailed. So my lesson in this was to never change my standards just for the sake of being with someone, and always take your chance. Be you, don’t ever change who you are because of a past relationship. At the end of the day, I can say I was 100% genuine and I was myself. Lesson learned. (SISS) What’s your favorite quote? (Reese) No answer is an answer. (SISS) At Smart is so sexy we love to see women who are thriving in their career or business. What are you most passionate about? (Reese) I am passionate about helping people. That’s why I became a social worker. I want to feel that I am making an impact. That goes with other aspects of my life as well, fitness, travel, me as a mother. I hope that I can inspire others, that you can be a single parent and still take care of yourself, be career oriented and travel. (SISS) Who was the most influential person in your life and why? (Reese) My daughter. Having her changed my life, it gave me direction, motivation, and I desire to do better. When I was younger I did not have much direction or motivation to what I wanted to do. That’s one of the reasons I joined the military, but I did so at the advice of my exes family which, thank God I listened. When I had my daughter everything changed. She made me a better person. (SISS) Where were you five years ago? What advice would you tell your five years younger self? (Reese) Five years ago, I was in a similar place that I am in now. But I think mentally I’ve grown a lot. I would tell myself that, time heals everything and life is short so please take it all in and enjoy every moment. Oh and don’t date that one guy, big mistake lol. (SISS) Can you take us through a typical day? From Waking up to going to bed, Can you give us a play by play of a typical day for you? (Reese) Typical day for me is not that exciting lol. I wake up around 6:30 am. Get ready and head to work. I work at a hospital so my day can be quite busy as I’m seeing patients most of the day. When I get off of work, I head home and help my daughter with homework. Then it’s off to the gym to train for about an hour and a half. Once I’m done I head home to have dinner and try to relax for a little bit before heading to sleep. (SISS) What is your favorite book and/or the latest one you’ve read? (Reese) Elizebeth’s women. It’s about the women who influenced Queen Elizabeth I and it had a big impact on her life. I’m a huge nerd when it comes to 16 century history and I love anything about the Tudors. (SISS) What would be a good theme song for your life? (Reese) “All the single ladies “ by Beyoncé lol (SISS) When do you feel the sexiest? (Reese) At the gym. I’m in my comfort zone. (SISS) Is there someone on social media that inspires you and is a great follow? (Reese) I can name two! Gia Mccool, a very genuine person and model. And TheBucketListFamily, and amazing family that travels the world together. (SISS) What does Smart is so Sexy mean to you? (Reese) Smart is so sexy is empowerment. Not just focusing or judging someone off the surface but also incorporating An individuals characteristics, their morals, their uniqueness, and their personality. (SISS) Thank you Reese, you are a great example for all of us on how to live LIFE, Keep Going #SISS
