(SISS) Hi Valeria where are you from and where are you currently spending your time? (Valeria Arango Torres) I’m from the beautiful city of Cali in Colombia and I am currently in the US for summer vacation. (SISS) What was one of the hardest things that you had to go through? What advice would you give someone going through the same struggle? (Valeria Arango Torres) One of the most difficult times I’ve had to live through was going from having everything (in terms of material things) to having nothing of what I was used to. At the first, being financially restricted out of nowhere seemed like a tragedy, the worst thing that could happen to a “little princess”, I felt pushed out of my comfort zone, scared and powerless. Today I can see how much of an enriching learning experience it was. I think that thanks to this, I have become a better human being, someone who cares for many other important things more than just herself and more than anything, I understand the value of being grateful. The best advice I can give would be to remember that everything in this life happens for a reason, that every struggle comes with an important lesson that will make you stronger to face the future. (SISS) #SISS Tell us more, who is @Valeriarango012 and what are you most proud of? (Valeria Arango Torres) @Valeriarango012 is a young girl who has learned that something better will always come. She knows that things could come to your life and could change you, but it’s up to you to decide how that change will happen. (SISS) One year from now what do you hope to have accomplished (business or personal)? (Valeria Arango Torres) One year from now, I want to see myself holding a high-school diploma and seeing that all the effort was really worth it. Also I would love to see that my family is closer, forgetting the past and moving towards a bright future. In the professional, aspect I would like to stand out in any project that I start. (SISS) How dedicated are you to fitness? What is your fitness goal? On your body, what is your favorite body part and what is your least favorite? (Valeria Arango Torres) For the past two years I really enjoyed the fit lifestyle. I love spending time at the gym and learning about ways to feel confident with my body. My top fitness goal is to gain muscle mass and tone my abdomen. (SISS) What makes you the happiest? What is fun for you? (Valeria Arango Torres) To be surrounded by people with positive energy makes me really happy, also I enjoy traveling and seeing all the different landscapes, it gives me peace and tranquility. (SISS) What were your best/worst subjects in school? (Valeria Arango Torres) My best subject in school was Philosophy ( yea! I loved Schopenhauer and Plato). Chemistry would be the worst. (SISS) How do you deal with disappointment? How do you Keep Going? (Valeria Arango Torres) From the events that have occurred throughout my short life, I have learned that you should trust only in yourself, but this leads to a bigger problem, feeling disappointed of yourself. I like to keep in mind that things will not always is going to happen, that way you want them the way you want them to and that this doesn’t make you less; it make you conscious of what you are failing, so you can work on it and improve. (SISS) What is your superpower? (Valeria Arango Torres) Well, I wouldn’t call it a super power, but since a was a child I always find out everything that happens around me without having to ask the people involved, I just do my assumptions and they turn out to be true. (SISS) What is your weakness and what do you do to overcome it? (Valeria Arango Torres) Being a perfectionist is a virtue and at the same time is my biggest weakness, as most of the times I get very stressed out because I begin to worry about all the things that can go wrong. I start to be a little maniac and annoying (that’s what my best friend always tells me). (SISS) Can you tell us four things people might not know about you? (Valeria Arango Torres) I have become a very sensitive person, even though I don’t express myself very often. Also I suffer something called Hemophobia which means that I’m really scared of blood and every time I see it, I faint (I have fainted more than 12 times in my whole life). Another thing would be that spiders really scare the heck out of me! Finally sea food is never on my menu, I don’t like it at all. What are you most passionate about? (Valeria Arango Torres) Studying. I really enjoy learning new things, because I feel that it gives us a purpose in this world, the universe is constantly innovating, and we can’t be left behind. Writing is something in which I personally think I’m really good at, when I do, I just let myself be carried away by the millions of ideas that my mind start to develop , actually one of my goals is to write a whole story and publish it (although I’m not a huge reader). (SISS) Who was the most influential person in your life and why? (Valeria Arango Torres) Well, I know that anyone would answer their father or mother, but in my case, I do not let myself be influenced by others. of course my family is extremely important and they planted the first traits of my personality, but throughout all my life, I have change in a better way following and being loyal to my thoughts and beliefs. (SISS) Where were you five years ago? What advice would you tell your five years younger self? (Valeria Arango Torres) Five years ago I was in the middle of the first difficult challenge that life gave me. If I could go back in time, I would advice myself to never feel guilty about the things that happened around you, that I am in this world for a reason and I’m worth a lot more than I think. (SISS) Can you take us through a typical day? From Waking up to going to bed, Can you give us a play by play of a typical day for you? (Valeria Arango Torres) In the week: First I wake up at 5:30 a.m, get ready, eat breakfast, and try to leave my house at 6:30 a.m (although I always end up leaving almost at 7 a.m) Then I go to study until 3 in the afternoon, later I arrive home, eat lunch and get into my gym clothes. After that I train for about one hour and a half, return home, eat dinner and get a shower. Finally I do any homework I have for the day and (my favorite part) I get inside the blankets and fall asleep. On the weekends: I wake up around 8:30 or 9:00 a.m, run to the kitchen and prepare a delicious breakfast for my dad and me, then I go to the gym for two hours and return home to eat lunch with my family. Next I get ready for the day and begin to do some work. When I’m finished I usually hangout with my friends or family. My day ends with a Netflix series in my bed. (SISS) What is your favorite book and/or the latest one you’ve read? (Valeria Arango Torres) Well I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of reading, although this last months I have pushed myself to do it, so the latest book I read was “La puta de Babilonia” (do not be fooled by the name). (SISS) What would be a good theme song for your life? (Valeria Arango Torres) -“Amor y control” by the amazing Ruben Blades. (SISS) When do you feel the sexiest?
