Shannon Ihrke

Shannon Ihrke(SISS) Hi Shannon, where are you from and where are you currently spending your time? (Shannon) I'm originally from a small town in Northern Minnesota and I recently moved back after spending the last 5 years in Chicago modeling and finishing my bachelors degree. (SISS) What was one of the hardest things that you had to go through? What advice would you give someone going through the same struggle? (Shannon) I think one of the hardest things I've went through was the desire to please people. As a model, you feel like it's your job to always be 'perfect' to everyone and I've found that, it’s not only isn't possible, but completely draining. It was a big turning point for me when I realized that the only person I need to be true to is myself. You can't please everyone and you need to just focus on being the best you can be for yourself and your personal growth. (SISS) What are you most grateful for? (Shannon) My family. Anytime I have ever gone through something very difficult in my life, my family has always been there to help and support me in any way that they can. Shannon IhrkeMy family is my rock. (SISS) How dedicated are you to fitness? What is your fitness goal? On your body, what is your favorite body part and what is your least favorite? (Shannon) I do my best to workout 5 times a week. I love to run and participate in 5k's and 10k's. I don't have any particular fitness goals, I just make the most of every workout that I do. My favorite part of my body would probably be my abs, I do a lot of ab workouts! My least favorite part is my feet. I'm not a foot person! (SISS) What makes you the happiest? (Shannon) Good coffee, horses, my family and friends, my dog, and traveling! (SISS) How do you deal with disappointment? (Shannon) I do my best to turn disappointments into learning experiences. (SISS) What is the best part about modeling and is there one part you rather not deal with? (Shannon) The best part about modeling is being able to meet some many amazing photographers, makeup artists, and stylists! I love being around so much creative energy. I'd rather not deal with the aches and pains that sometimes come after a long day of shooting. My feet will be sore from the heels, and my back tight from twisting and bending into modeling poses that, while look glamorous and appealing, actually hurt to hold sometimes! (SISS) Can you tell us four things people don’t know about you? (Shannon) 1. I aced
Shannon Ihrkemy college calculus class. I never got one question wrong in any of the tests or quizzes! I love math. 2. It's my goal every year to travel to a country I've never been to. 3. I love going on hiking trips with my dad. We try to go once a year. 4. I volunteer at my local animal shelter. (SISS) You are a Marine Corps Sgt Veteran, what did you love the most about your experience and what is the hardest or most challenging part for you? (Shannon) I loved the comradery of the Marine Corps. I don't know if there was really a hard part, I loved being an active duty Marine. (SISS) Can you tell us where else can our readers follow your daily inspiration? (Shannon) You can follow me on instagram @ShannonIhrke or find me on Facebook under 'Shannon Ihrke'. I also have twitter @ShannonIhrke as well. (SISS) What’s your favorite quote? (Shannon) "Not all who wander are lost". I think our society likes to put people into categories or 'boxes' and I don't like that. I think it's great to explore who you are and try different things and be and do whatever you find most fulfilling. Wonder all you want, it's okay! (SISS) At Smart is so sexy we love to see women who are thriving in their career or business. What are you most passionate about? (Shannon) I'm passionate about helping our military veterans and training horses. Those things give me the greatest joy. (SISS) Who was the most influential person in your life? (Shannon) I can't pick one because I have two amazing parents. My mom and dad are 2 of my best friends and both have taught me so Shannon Ihrkemuch. (SISS) Where were you five years ago? What advice would you tell your five years younger self? (Shannon) Five years ago I was starting my modeling career in Chicago and struggling to make ends meet at times. I was taking any modeling opportunity I could, even if the pay was next to nothing because I wanted to do everything I could to make a name for myself. I moved there on a whim and barely knew anyone. I would tell myself to not worry so much and that everything would work itself out. I would also say that big things are coming so a little relax and enjoy the ride! (SISS) Can you take us through a typical day? From Waking up to going to bed, Can you give us a play by play of a typical day for you? (Shannon) Wake up at 5:45am- go to the gym. Afternoons consist of walking my dog, training horses, doing social media marketing for a couple companies I work for, and booking upcoming modeling work. I cook every evening, spend time with my family, and then read before going to bed. (SISS) What are you most proud of? (Shannon) My military service. (SISS) What is your favorite Food? What is your favorite book and/or the latest one you’ve read? (Shannon) Favorite food- prime rib and reubens. I LOVE TO READ! I try to read a book a month, but my all time favorite are Wild by Cheryl Strayed and Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. I'm currently reading Love and Other Consolation Prizes Jamie Ford. (SISS) A social media question, Facebook, twitter, Instagram or snapchat? Which one do you use the most to best market yourself or brand? (Shannon) Instagram! (SISS) Can you name someone on social media that inspires you and is a great follow? (Shannon) I follow a lot of funny Instagram accounts, horse accounts, and dog accounts! They just make me smile and laugh. I really like "AnimalsDoingThings" because it's just too cute. (SISS) What does Smart is so Sexy mean to you? (Shannon) There's a great quote that says "A beautiful woman is a beautiful woman but a beautiful woman with a brain is an absolutely lethal combination". It's one thing to be blessed with what society deems as beautiful but I don't think that's enough. Beauty only gets you so far and it fades over time! Being smart can be just as sexy and the longevity is much greater!
