Calita Andrea

Meet Calita Andrea! (Via www.calitandrea.com/about) I come from a family of people, who know who they are, love where they come from and build their future with their bare hands; I appreciate the concrete of my foundation and live everyday embracing who I am. I escape everyday life by traveling the world because there’s no better feeling than being a new face in a different city. You could say I am the happiest in unfamiliar places, uncovering and discovering myself as I go, allowing my wings to spread and my views of the world to Calita Andreaexpand. (SISS)  Hi Calita where are you from and where are you currently spending your time?  (Calita)  I am Colombian (South America) and currently reside in Tampa, FL. (SISS)  What was one of the hardest things that you had to go through? What advice would you give someone going through the same struggle?  (Calita)  Self doubt. I have so many ideas and things that I want to do in life but I always doubt myself. Keep thinking, “Maybe I can’t do it. What if I fail? What if it’s not as great as I envision it?” and I block myself from enjoying the journey just because of fears I created myself. The advice I would give is to believe in the power of failure – the only way I get over my self-doubt is knowing that I would be more disappointed if I actually never tried to do whatever it is I wanted to do. I started believing that failure is actually something positive and changed my mentality. At the end of the day, what is meant to be will be and what is not then thank goodness you dodged that bullet.  (SISS)  Owner of @Miniartfamily  #SISS Tell us more, who is @Calitandrea and what are you most proud of?  (Calita)  MiniArt is a family daycare center! I am totally in love with my small family business. MiniArt started before I was born, when my mom opened her own business back in Colombia in her early 20’s. After going through many struggles, leaving her country to move to the states chasing her American dream, working long hours in jobs that were not fulfilling, me and her partnered up to bring her dream back to life. We opened three years ago and we have already impacted the early years of so many little ones. I love meeting the families, meeting the babies and seeing them through their early developmental years.  @calitandrea is a dreamer and entrepreneur, she is someone who loves to see people succeed and will do anything and everything to be their number one supporter. I am most proud of my drive to get things done, no matter no cost. I am most proud to be someone who can let things go to avoid letting them block my future and vision. She is a business owner, a blogger, a documentary fanatic and a traveler.  (SISS)  One year from now what do you hope to have accomplished (business or personal)?  (Calita)  Professionally:  I want to expand MiniArt Family Daycare. I want to continue to Calita Andreacreate a space for little ones to be loved, taught and empowered.  Personally: I want to continue to grow my blog calitandrea.com. Starting the blog was one of those things that I feared a lot and I am still getting over the fear of failing.  (SISS)  How dedicated are you to fitness?  What is your fitness goal?  On your body, what is your favorite body part and what is your least favorite?  (Calita)  I have struggled with my body image for a long time, never thinking I looked good enough. I try to maintain a positive outlook no matter what and always focusing on my health. My fitness goals are to be healthy and comfortable in my own body, maintain my current weight and build muscle. I always really loved my smile. Smiling just makes me feel good and makes other people feel good, plus I was lucky to have a nice smile.  (SISS)  What makes you the happiest? What is fun for you?  (Calita)  Traveling makes me the happiest. I am happy when I can look around and see things I don’t recognize. I love being around different cultures, learning about them and immersing myself in them.  (SISS)  How do you deal with disappointment? How do you Keep Going?  (Calita)  It’s very mental to me. I try to re-arrange my expectations and believe that it just wasn’t meant to be. When I am 100% sure of something, I definitely become a fighter and do anything in my power to not face disappointment. What keeps me going is knowing that disappointments sometimes are safety nets for ourselves so that we don’t end up facing something worse.  (SISS)  What is your weakness and what do you do to overcome it?  (Calita)  Being satisfied. I want to do so much more but I find myself settling for what is. It takes a lot of pushing myself to get out of the funk and go for my goals.  (SISS)  Can you tell us four things people don’t know about you?  (Calita)  I have an uncontrollable fear of frogs.  I overthink and over plan every little things.  I dream of traveling to every country in the world.  I want to create a charity. (SISS)  What’s your favorite quote?  (Calita)  “Beauty begins the moment you decide to be Calita Andreayourself” – Coco Chanel  (SISS)  At Smart is so sexy we love to see women who are thriving in their career or business.  What are you most passionate about?  (Calita)  I am passionate about doing what I love even if that changes all the time. I am passionate about being in love with your career so it doesn’t become just a job. I am passionate about being busy but taking time off to relax and do absolutely nothing. I am passionate about empowered people, women and men alike, people that are trying to live their life the way they always wanted even if it goes against all of society’s rules.  (SISS)  Who was the most influential person in your life and why?  (Calita)  My mother, as cliché as it can be. She is such a powerful woman, with a strong mind and drive to make things happen for herself and family. She has everything I want for my life and she can show me everything I don’t want for my life. She has done very good and has been in very bad situations but it she doesn’t let anything take her off her path.  (SISS)  Where were you five years ago? What advice would you tell your five years younger self?  (Calita)  I was satisfied with what I had accomplished so far. I was in a place where life was easy and I wasn’t challenging myself. I would tell my young self to not rest, settle nor be satisfied and to keep pushing myself.  (SISS)  What is your favorite meal?  (Calita)  Carne Asada tacos, Mexican style with rice.  (SISS)  What is your favorite book and/or the latest one you’ve read?  (Calita)  I am not a huge reader, I prefer documentaries – crime and murder are my favorites.  (SISS)  What is your favorite song?  (Calita)  Everything Eminem!  (SISS)  When do you feel the sexiest?  (Calita)  When I am determine to crush my goals.  (SISS)  What does Smart is so Sexy mean to you?  (Calita)  Smart is so sexy is when you have the confidence to crush every single one of your goals, while believing in yourself. It means that you are able to break through your fears and the obstacles that society brings in order to do what makes you completely happy.  (SISS)  Thank you so much Calita, you are awesome #SISS follow her on Instagram @Calitandrea
