Kelly Rodenburg(SISS) Hi Kelly, where are you from and where are you currently spending your time? (Kelly) I was born in Queens, New York and have spent most of my life in Scottsdale, Arizona. I’m currently spending my time in Phoenix, Arizona. (SISS)  What was one of the hardest things that you had to go through? What advice would you give someone going through the same struggle? (Kelly) One of the biggest challenges I’ve had to face in my life is keeping my marriage strong while focusing on nursing school. The advice I would give someone in a similar situation is, make time for yourself and your loved ones. Remember your priorities, keep your loved ones close to your heart because they are going to help you face any challenge you may face. (SISS) Who is Kelly Rodenburg and what are you most proud of? (Kelly) I am very proud that I graduated nursing school, and I passed my NCLEX on the first try. There were many times when I felt like giving up, so many tears were shed but I pushed through and it was so worth it. (SISS) How dedicated are you to fitness? What is your fitness goal?  On your body, what is your favorite body part and what is your least favorite? (Kelly) Fitness is a big part of my life, my husband is a CrossFit coach and a chef, so he helps me stay on track by meal prepping for us. I want to lose a few inches around my waist, while in nursing school I definitely stress ate, and it did catch up to me, so I would like to get back to my pre nursing school body. I love my booty! I was blessed with a big booty, I used to hate it, girls at school used to make fun of me for it, but now I love it. I think my least favorite body part is my legs, I have thick thighs and cellulite, I have to work hard to keep them toned, but my legs take me places so I’m not too mad at them. (SISS)  What makes you the Kelly Rodenburghappiest? What is fun for you? (Kelly) Traveling with my husband makes me so happy, it brings us closer when we’re exploring a foreign place with nothing but each other, it’s truly one of my favorite feelings in the world. (SISS)  How do you deal with disappointment? How do you Keep Going? (Kelly) Disappointment sucks, but I have realized that the more you love yourself the easier it is to keep moving forward. Sometimes I shed a few tears, but then I keep it moving, because I can’t dwell on things that are not in my control. (SISS)  What is your superpower? (Kelly) I am a ride or die kind of girl, I will listen to your rants and keep your secrets. In other words, I’m extremely loyal, it’s one of the qualities I am most proud of. (SISS)  What is your weakness and what do you do to overcome it? (Kelly) Sometimes, as a loyal person it’s hard for me to let go of toxic people from my life. The older I get the easier it’s getting for me to separate myself from these kinds of people. Don’t be friends with people that make you feel like they are competing with you, surround yourself with people that empower you. (SISS)  Can you tell us four things people don’t know about you? (Kelly) Llamas are my favorite animal. I love photography, I take my camera with me almost everywhere I go. I don’t like chocolate. I’d rather read a good book than watch TV. (SISS)  Can you tell us where else can our readers follow your daily inspiration? (Kelly) Follow my Instagram @kelly_rodenburg, I love to talk about my nursing journey, fashion, and just maintaining an overall positive attitude. (SISS)  What’s your favorite quote? (Kelly) “And though she be but little she is fierce.”- William Shakespeare. I have this quote on my Instagram bio because it speaks to me, I’m 5 feet tall with a whole lot of personality and drive. (SISS)  At Smart is so sexy we love to see women who are thriving in their career or business.  What are you most passionate about? (Kelly) I am so passionate about nursing, I feel so honored to be doing what I love. I am getting ready to start my career as an OR nurse and I can’t wait to continue to grow as a nurse, there is so much more to learn. (SISS)  Who Kelly Rodenburgwas the most influential person in your life and why? (Kelly) My mother is
the strongest most beautiful woman I know. She has faced many challenges in her life, many times alone but always managed to keep a smile on her face and provide for her children. She encouraged me to pursue my dreams although they may be difficult, she ensured me that it can most certainly can be accomplished. (SISS)  Where were you five years ago? What advice would you tell your five years younger self? (Kelly) Five years ago I was single and working as a medical coder. If I could speak to my younger self I would say, “Love yourself a little more, stop criticizing yourself so much! You may not like certain things about yourself but that’s what makes you unique. You have to love yourself before you can love anyone else. Be strong, because you will be facing many challenges in the future. Cherish your relationship with your husband, family, friends and god, this is your tribe, these are the people that will help you face these challenges.” (SISS)  Can you take us through a typical day? From Waking up to going to bed, Can you give us a play by play of a typical day for you? (Kelly) Right now I’m in the middle of transitioning my schedule because I’m getting ready to start working again. It’s such an exciting time and I’m still figuring out how my schedule will be. A few things that’ll stay the same are that, I take my dogs for a walk every day, I work out once a day, and my husband and IKelly Rodenburg make it a goal to eat at least one meal together every day. (SISS)  What is your favorite meal? What is your favorite book and/or the latest one you’ve read?  What is your favorite song? (Kelly) I love a good creamy fettucine alfredo with a glass of wine, it’s my kryptonite! My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice. The last book I read was invisible monsters, it was so good! It’s so hard to pick a favorite song because I love music so much. Right now I’m really loving The Weeknds album, My Dear Melancholy, and I can never get enough of Lana Del Rey. (SISS)  When do you feel the sexiest? (Kelly) I feel the sexiest when I’m happy, Audrey Hepburn wasn’t joking when she said, “Happy girls are the prettiest.” (SISS)  Is there someone on social media that inspires you and is a great follow? (Kelly) Yes! Right now I’m really loving @nurse.georgie, she started the “she can do both campaign” it is so inspirational, she is reminding us that we can be whoever we want to be. (SISS)  What does Smart is so Sexy mean to you? (Kelly) This is a woman that is not afraid to work hard to reach for her dreams and aspirations. She empowers the people around her and doesn’t compare herself to others. This is what smart is so sexy means to me. (SISS) Thank you so much Kelly, please follow her on Instagram!
