(SISS) Hi, where are you from and where are you currently spending your time? (Davelyn) I am from Dallas, Texas where I currently spend my time. The only time I really leave is when the travel bug hits 😁 Other than that, I am just in Dallas working! (SISS) What was one of the hardest things that you had to go through? What advice would you give someone going through the same struggle? (Davelyn) One of the hardest things I had to go through is the after college transition into “adulthood”. I think that is one of the hardest things any young person experiences, especially when they are only taught to go to school and work. As young individuals trying to figure out life, there must be more guidance that those two directions alone. So with that said, the advice I would give to someone going through that same struggle is to take the time to really figure out what YOU enjoy doing, ask yourself if you could, would you do said thing for free and still enjoy it, then research out how to monetize that! Also, a piece of side advice: Who cares how many other people are doing it!! If God called you to it, he already paved the way for your
blessings! Trust in That! (SISS) Personal Trainer | Health Coach | Owner @motiv2fit | www.motiv2fit.com | Co-Owner of @thecollectivebrand.co #SISS Tell us more… who is @davelyn__ and what are you most proud of? (Davelyn) Davelyn is an empathetic hard working woman! She is heavy on the selfless, but she isn’t afraid to be selfish when it comes to her personal time and self-care. Davelyn is private, yet can be very transparent depending on her mood and the topic of conversation. I am most proud of following my dreams. There have been so many times where I was told my industry is over saturated, moments I wasn’t supported or my dreams weren’t believed in, and even moments where my insecurities got the best of me. However, here I am! I kept going and everyday I’m extremely grateful that I am in the position to build a better life for my family. (SISS) Finish this sentence, I have a dream… ? (Davelyn) I have a dream that my children will have more opportunities and examples at success than I did. (SISS) What makes you the happiest? What is fun for you? (Davelyn) I’m my happiest when I’m helping someone achieve whatever goals or dreams they have set for themselves or their business. What is fun for me is being at my most creative. I love having photo shoots and watching those concepts come to life! (SISS) How do you deal with disappointment? How do you Keep Going? (Davelyn) I deal with disappointment before the disappointment can ever happen, meaning I have taught myself to not have much expectation when dealing with people and situations. This honestly has helped me so much! I keep going by remembering my Why’s: Why I started, Why I must reach my goals, and Why I am doing all of this. (SISS) What is your superpower? (Davelyn) Transparency and Empathy. (SISS) Finish the sentence, my life has gotten so much better since… ? (Davelyn)....I stopped trying to control everything. Some, if not all things, are for God to control. (SISS) Can you tell
us four things people might not know about you? (Davelyn) (1) I went to private school up until college. (2) I’ll be 30 in March. (3) I don’t workout everyday (I know, shocker. lol). (4) I love just about anything involving Oreos! (SISS) Can you tell us where else can our readers follow your daily inspiration? (Davelyn) Catch me on social media, for now 😉. (SISS) Got a Story to Tell? Can you tell us a quick story or moment/night of a relationship experience, a lesson learned? (This could be funny or serious). (Davelyn) A quick story? Me? Not even! My stories have way too much context to be quick lol. So we can save the details for another day; but what I can tell you is the common denominator of majority of my stories. That common denominator, or lesson learned, is listening to your intuition! I have gotten myself into more situations than I had to all because I chose not to listen to that little voice in my spirit. Let your intuition lead! (SISS) What’s your favorite quote? (Davelyn) “Do it all just to know where it gets you” - Abel Tesfe (The Weeknd). (SISS) At Smart is so sexy we love to see women who are thriving in their career or business. What are you most passionate about? (Davelyn) I am most passionate about creating revenue streams. I understand that in doing so it not only sets me up financially, but it begins my seed planting of generational wealth that I strive to implement for my family. (SISS) Who was the most influential person in your life and why? (Davelyn) The most influential person in my life is my mom. Watching how she took on two jobs due to my fathers lay off just to continue to put my brother and I through private school. Also, watching how she has taken care of my father after being diagnosed with dementia is another level of strength and patience I wish to constantly strive for. She does it all so effortlessly! You would never know how tough things are for her because God’s praises stay being sung from her lips. She is the staple of influence, strength, resilience, & motherhood that I could have ever asked for. (SISS) Where were you
five years ago? What advice would you tell your five years younger self? (Davelyn) Five years ago I was the chick who was just beginning to shift her hangout time towards gym time. I would tell my five years younger self to be more confident in the value you deliver. If you stand firm on who you are, and what you bring to the table, people have no choice but to bend to that will. And if they don’t, you don’t need a “they”. All you need is Him (God)! (SISS) Can you take us through a typical day? From Waking up to going to bed, Can you give us a play by play of a typical day for you? (Davelyn) Alright, here we go tigers! Alarm goes off at 6:30am (6am when I have my 6:30am PT client) I start brewing my ginger tea & then log into work by 8am...from my kitchen! I work my 8 schedule corporate hours, and while I am on uncle Sam’s clock I check my emails (I try to make this my first task of the day because emails are tedious!). After emails, I being creating social media posts for my personal brand (@davelyn__), for my fitness brand (@motiv2fit), and for my lifestyle clothing brand @thecollectivebrand.co. When my posts are complete with all the tags and what not, I check my to-do list to see what tasks must get done first and make my way down the list until I complete what I can for the day. At 4:30pm I am off the corporate clock and I begin to prepare for my 5:30p & 7p PT clients. My day is typically complete around 8pm and this is when I host my meetings, get back on social media to respond to comments or generate daily engagement, finally I will double back to my emails to make sure nothing important was missed. Lastly, gotta get my workout in! Depending on the flow of the day my workouts are either mid-day on my lunch break, or after my PT clients in the evening. Overall, my day typically concludes around 11pm with another cup of ginger tea and some binge worthy episodes. (SISS) What is your favorite book and/or the latest one you’ve read? (Davelyn) My favorite book that I have read, that helped kickstart me onto my entrepreneurial journey, was “Act like a success, Think like a success” by Steve Harvey. Best book ever! (SISS) When do you feel the sexiest? (Davelyn) I feel my sexiest right after I have crushed an amazing leg-day workout! So many great Selfies happen after that! Lol (SISS) Is there someone on social media that inspires you and is a great follow? (Davelyn) Draya Michele. I have been following her since day one on basketball wives. She is very inspirational in the way she dominates her power moves despite any oppositions thrown her way. (SISS) What does Smart is so Sexy mean to you? (Davelyn) Smart is So Sexy to me means that we as women don’t have to only be subjected to just outward appearances. The knowledge our minds contain as well as what our spirit exudes is the forefront of what makes any woman her strongest self. (SISS) Thank you so much Davelyn, you are awesome! Keep Going #SISS
