Dailyn Santana

Meet Dailyn Santana She fell in love with the Theatre at a very young age. Her first experience on stage was when she was cast in Neil Simon’s “Brighton Beach Memoirs.” She played Eugene Morris Jerome because no boys wanted to participate in the play. As fate would have it, Dailyn was a huge tomboy and was perfect for the role. She embraced the part of the Yankees-loving boy and was hooked since the start of her opening monologue. She then began participating in every play and talent show in school she possibly could. She is a recent graduate of the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre. Since graduation, she booked a national commercial and an ad campaign for Slimfast and booked a Curious George app commercial. She will also be seen in several independent films such as “New Endings” by Diana Espinosa and “Payin’ the Price” by Jordan Coleman. I am originally from Elizabeth NJ, currently I am usually all over NYC :)  (SISS)  What was one of the hardest things that you had to go through? What advice would you give someone going through the same struggle?  (Dailyn Santana)  There is a lot. But to be honest, maintaining confidence despite my illness is my biggest struggle.  I would tell them that it always gets better. Always.  (SISS)  A poet, an actress, etc.. but who is @DailynSantana and what are you most proud of?  (Dailyn Santana)  I am most proud of my heart. It fuels and nourishes me. When I am not feeling well, I try to make others feel good and it always works, even if it’s temporary. And I’m proud that it comes natural to me.  (SISS)  How dedicated are you to fitness? What is your fitness goal?  On your body, what is your favorite body part and what is your least favorite?  (Dailyn Santana)  Girl. I definitely need to become more serious about fitness. My goal is to really just be in the shape of my life EVERY year of my life. Not just in my “younger” years. I love my body Period, because it’s mine and mine only. But I am definitely self-conscious about my arms. Always have been.  (SISS)  What makes you the happiest? What is fun for you?  (Dailyn Santana)  When people I love meet other people I love and I watch them vibe from a far. I love that. I love to dance with my sister. I have the most fun when I’m dancing at a family party, that’s been a favorite since I was young.  (SISS)  How do you deal with disappointment? How do you Keep Going?  (Dailyn Santana)  I deal with rejection daily. That’s part of the game. Disappointment is different. When someone disappoints me — all I can focus in on is MY actions and how I respond. That is difficult - but ultimately, my energy depends on it.  (SISS)  What is your superpower?  (Dailyn Santana)  Compassion. Heart-power. Everyone is important and they deserves to know this. I feel a responsibility to give life to that for others.  (SISS)  What is your weakness and what do you do to overcome it?  (Dailyn Santana)  My racing thoughts. Sometimes they feel like I just stepped on a red-ant farm and spread all through my body like wildfire. I take deep breaths and try to center myself through prayer.  (SISS)  Can you tell us four things people don’t know about you?  (Dailyn Santana)  I have a semi-gum phobia. Gum freaks me OUT. One of my favorite past times is to sing trap songs in a broadway like manner. I know every single line to Liar Liar.  I ask my grandfather who passed when I was 12 for guidance a lot.  (SISS)  Can you tell us where else can our readers follow your daily inspiration?  (Dailyn Santana)  Yes! Instagram : @dailynsantana  (SISS)  What’s your favorite quote?  (Dailyn Santana)  “You were assigned this mountain to show others it can be moved”  (SISS)  At Smart is so sexy we love to see women who are thriving in their career or business.  What are you most passionate about?  (Dailyn Santana)  I’m so passionate to normalize the conversation about mental illness through art.  I’m passionate to do something that Gina Rodriguez beautifully coined “when passion and purpose meet” (SISS)  Who was the most influential person in your life and why?  (Dailyn Santana)  My sister @itsDariany was and is. We are only 14 months apart, but I still look up to her. She is loyal, unapologetically herself since we were kids, knows what she wants at stops at nothing to get it. She’s hilarious and the kind of person you can bring anywhere and have the best time.  (SISS)  Where were you five years ago? What advice would you tell your five years younger self?  (Dailyn Santana)  Five years ago, I was just starting the summer program at the neighborhood playhouse school of theatre. I’d tell myself, stop taking Yourself So Seriously, and take Gary Kingston’s advice when he told me -  “smear your mistakes all over these damn walls.” (SISS)  Can you take us through a typical day? From Waking up to going to bed, Can you give us a play by play of a typical day for you?  (Dailyn Santana)  Every day varies. But I’ll take you through yesterday: Woke up at 730am. Cuddled with my boyfriend and Choowey for ten minutes. Took a shower and did my hair- had some ginger tea. Went to an audition with a friend and crashed another one down the hall. Took the subway to my first meeting. Went to therapy near Central Park afterwards. Met a friend to read through a script. Then went to my friends play at 730pm. They KILLED it. :) Took train back to Long Island. Showered again- watched a bit of Ricky Gervais stand up special on Netflix and passed out with my watch still on. ‘‘Twas a good day.  (SISS)  What is your favorite meals? What is your favorite book and/or the latest one you’ve read?  What is your favorite song?  (Dailyn Santana)  My Favorite food is French onion soup!!!!!! I’m currently reading Neil Degrasse Tyson’s new book. My Favorite song is just like heaven by The Cure.  (SISS)  When do you feel the sexiest?  (Dailyn Santana)  When I'm wearing a wife beater, boyfriend jeans, and chucks. (SISS)  What does Smart is so Sexy mean to you?  (Dailyn Santana)  Smart is so sexy period. Beauty is entirely common. But someone who thirsts for knowledge, someone who knows a little bit about everything, Someone who takes interests in things. Someone with an eclectic vocabulary, that is irresistible to me.
